The full impact of the digital insurgency has not yet totally arrived in the film industry their is much expansion to come. Though the transition is in progress and will be on going as technology continues to advance across board. The calculating factors are still not in sync with this change.  As occurred in other industries, notably music and publishing, the impact of digital technologies is rapidly being felt on what has been a rather outmoded film production environment. While post- production has gone through the insurgency of non-linear editing and digital effects, the whole process of pre-production, production and theatrical distribution has, for the most part, remained very much as it has since the early part of this century.  Movie making is changing features.
